In my continuing attempts to find a suitable medium to take this blog to the next level, I've been on Stickam, Ustream, Youtube, RFCRadio, Blog Talk Radio, and various podcasting sites. I prefer the format and abilities of BTR, but the sound quality is always lacking to me. Podcasting is great and easy to do, but everyone has a podcast, and most are better produced than anything I've ever done.
I've been mulling an idea in my head for quite a while, and I want to get some feedback from you. I want something that will combine a video element along with good sound, on a platform that is great for promotion. The best site in the world for that is Youtube; not only is the sound much better than BTR and a lot of podcasting software, but it gives the video aspect, and most important of all, your show is in the searches of one of the most visited websites on the planet.
The only drawback is time constraints, especially when recording directly to Youtube, but I think that can work in my favor as well. Since this blog covers such divergent areas of pop culture, I would devote each video to one area. For example, Part 1 would cover marijuana news, part 2: politics, part 3: entertainment news, and part 4 would be devoted to sports, all the news you need plus my one-of-a-kind commentary.
You would be able to pick which areas you want to hear about, and ignore the rest, and Youtube is one of the easiest-sharing websites on the Internet, so you can enlighten your friends. I will record a pilot episode soon, and incorporate any feedback I get, plus any questions you want answered on the show; just leave a comment below.
I use a webcam so the video isn't the greatest, but you'll be able to see me smoke some kind of herb from a glass pipe, shhh I'm keeping that on the DL. Plus any other visual stunts I want to perform. Let me know your thoughts.
